By paying 1000 Life Points, negate the activation and effect of a Spell or Trap Card that targets 1 face-up Psychic-Type monster you control and destroy it.

Rating 10/10

I almost feel justified to remove a point for the name but that is just nit picking.

Inappropriately named monster is the strongest of the new Psychic type monsters coming out in the next set.
(That answers those questions early even though I will probably have to repeat it a few times before it sets in.)

He has a negate effect that stops 2 out of 3 types of Kill cards. What makes this card the best is the fact that 99% of the new Psychic monsters have a effect that you need to pay life points to use but this is one of the only ones to have an effect that gets you back life points.

Psychic monsters pay a lot of your points to mess up your enemy's strategy and this card can both provide fuel to get its effect off and save itself from destruction. All in all a balanced and powerful card. What a rare combo.

Look for this monster in the next set

Future Monday : Gigantech Fighter

By : Ken Watkins

He is a card from one of the 5Ds starter decks.

For those that do not understand Japanese (like myself) here is the translation.

Name:
Gigantech Fighter

Type:
Warrior/Synchro/Effect

Effect:
1 Tuner monster + 1 or more non-Tuner monster(s)
This card gains ATK equal to the the number of Warrior-Type monsters in both player's Graveyard x 100. When this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard, you can select 1 Warrior-Type monster in either you or your opponent's Graveyard and Special Summon it.

Rating 9/10

I have decided to take a break from the Zombies before I start planing out a new deck and have gone back to my forte, Warriors.

Gigantech Fighter is a 8 star Synchro summon warrior will his own power up effect and revives a warrior when he is destroyed.

Good art. Nice stats. So why the power up effect? A bit over kill but I like the revival effect, it was a nice touch that turned this from a Meh card to a good card.

Look for him in the 5D's structure deck (I know I said it at the start but some people forget these things and ask me when it comes out).

Future Monday : Zombie World

"They are all dead! No monsters can be Tribute Summoned, except Zombie-Type monsters.

My rating: 10-10 (For zombie decks)

This card strengthens the zombie decks and weakens the other decks. No tribute summoning for the enemy kills many decks like monarchs but the fact all the monster types are zombies means only zombie revival and non-specified revival works.

But that is just the beginning of the evil. Remember all the monsters in the graveyard are zombies so any monster in there can be revived with Zombie revival cards. Like say Destiny hero - Disk Commander. And the new deck has a few affects that allow you to revive your enemy's monsters and use them against them. With monsters like Il Blud or Red eyes zombie.

This is a card your enemy will target fast so field barrier is a good idea for it as well.

Comment

Nationals Special & Future Monday

Well guys Nats is over and yet another year without a top 8 finish for Cork..
We came damn close though

Mark Went 4-2
Antony Went 4-2
I Went 3-3 ( Damn Malicous being stuck in my hand every round )
Seamus went 3-3
Drew went 2-4 I think ...

We got some of the top 8 decklists click on the deck names to view them..
{ these are there feckin names as I dont know there real ones }

1st : Grimsqueaker (Glad Beasts)
2nd : Jeffrey (Apprentice Monarch)
3rd : Mechy (Glad Beasts)
4th : Tim (Lightsworn)
5th : Mystic Ninja (Apprentice Monarch)
6th : Sal (Dad)
7th : Kenny (Dad)
8th : Padraig (Monarch)

Yes Yes I Know Glad Beasts Topped Nats

And If thats not enough heres Kens Future Monday : Titled AAAHHHH ZOMBIES!!!, RUN FAST!! A ZOMBIE DRAGON!!
Red-Eyes Zombie Dragon is the feature card in the next deck to come out in Japan and I am starting to like the new decks style.

For those that do not understand Japanese (like myself) here is the translation.

Name:
Red-Eyes Zombie Dragon

Type:
Zombie/Effect

Effect:
This card can be Tribute Summoned in face-up Attack Position by Tributing 1 Zombie-Type monster. When this card destroys a Zombie-Type monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard, you can Special Summon that monster to your side of the field.

Rating 9/10

Zombies are masters of revival and this card add a new dimension to it. Now they can recruit your enemy zombies.

But what if your enemy don't have any zombies? You can always force it on them with DNA Surgery. Or use the new field effect card in this new deck (I am not spoiling it) (Or reviewing it until a better picture of it is out).

Now how easy is it to summon? 2000 def means Pyramid Turtle works.
Call of the Mummy works too and only one tribute is needed for zombie decks. We are all painfully aware of zombie revival ability's as well. So he is never staying in the graveyard.

It is just evil! Do zombies need more support?

Comment

Old School Monarchs

Old School Monarchs

By Thomas Sheehan

Here is the decklist ..

[7] Tributes

[3] Caius (3)
[2] Destiny Hero - Malicious (2)
[1] Dmoc (1)
[1] Jinzo (1)

[11] Non Tributes

[3] D.D Assilent
[2] Legendary Jujitsu Master
[2] Gravekeepers Spy
[1] Stratos
[1] Destiny Hero - Disk Commander
[1] Neo - Spacian Grand Mole
[1] Sangan
[1] Treeborn Frog
[1] Marshmellon

[13] Spells

[2] Destiny Draw
[2] Allure of Darkness
[1] Premature Burial
[1] Heavy Storm
[1] Fires of Doomsday
[2] Enemy Controller
[1] Brain Control
[1] Monster Reborn
[2] D.D.R

[7] Traps

[3] Dimensional Prision
[2] Bottomless Trap Hole
[1] Mirrior Force
[1] Torrential Tribute

Comment

Future Monday : Winged Kuriboh LV9

By Ken Watkins

** and its not thursday its monday ** so shhhh

Sorry about being late with this. If a chain occurs, you can Special Summon this card from your hand. As long as this card remains face-up on the field, all Spell Cards that would be sent to the Graveyard are removed from play instead. The ATK and DEF of this card are equal to the number of Spell Cards in your opponent's Graveyard x 500.

Rating 8/10

WK9 (as we will call him) is a interesting card. He is easy enough to summon but gets better later in the duel when opponent have had time to use some spells. But it loses two points right there. The words opponent's graveyard.

Any card that requires you opponent to do something is not that good. Add to that the fact that while WK9 is on the field he removes any new spells weakens it more.

The first condition to summon this card makes sense. If the only summon condition is to cause a chain to get him out then you can spam the field with him so the limited him to one on the field at a time balance it out.

The reason I am giving it a 8 instead of a 7 is it is a very unique card and interests me.

This card is coming out in japan in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Volume 3 set. No one knows when we are getting it.

Comment

Important Announcement: Forbidden & Limited List Changes

Yu-Gi-Oh! During battle between this card and a Defense Position monster whose DEF is lower than the ATK of this card, inflict the difference as Battle Damage to your opponent. When this card attacks, your opponent cannot activate any Spell or Trap Cards until the end of the Damage Step. When this card is destroyed, Special Summon 1 "Ancient Gear Golem" from your Graveyard, ignoring the summoning conditions.

My rating: 7-10

Lets be honest Ancient Gear Golem was a Meh card. The 3000 attack and the fact that while it was attacking it couldn't be hit by the most common traps was good, hell add to that the fact it had trample it was a great card. What killed Ancient Gear Golem was five words "This card cannot be Special Summoned." And here have Ultimate Ancient Gear Golem who is a bigger fusion version of him. dry.gif

Let get the differences pointed out.

1. 3 monsters have to be sacrificed for this one (and one spell card)
2. If it get Destroyed then it's little brother pop from the graveyard.
3. It has higher stats.
4. It is a fusion monster.
5. the art and name is different (Someone will bring it up if I don't).

Wow. Lazy. Good concept destroyed by the five words of death.Use future fusion to summon him and have fun.

Comment

Skills and Techniqes Thursday

Top Decks Part 2 : Tech and side deck

By Seamus Allen

Knowing different types of decks well does that make you far better...
Learning what play style to use to defeat them what cards they use to make better reads as well as helping with side decking. Each type of deck will always have variations on how they do things yet have the same goals.

For example monarchs: there are apprentice spy monarchs, Spy hydro monarchs and destiny hero monarchs and even more. They all have the same properties, which are to build up tribute fodder and are normally very defensive decks. They all have a weakness to royal oppression mask of restrict and drillroid etc..

Knowing the different variants of deck types will also help to take down the opponent. Most cards that can be sided against a type of deck can normally be sided against any of the variants of that type of deck. And some cards that can be side decked against certain decks can be sided against other decks too.

When building a side deck you have to have a side deck of 15 cards and no more. It can be difficult to decide what to put in a side deck but you can use these rules to help you:

1.How many times will I come across certain types of decks?
Will there be few people playing them? Side more for decks that will be seen a lot.

2.Are there types of decks that can ruin the strategy of your type of deck? Are there types of decks you have a weakness to? Side heavily for them. This will include mirror matches or when you play the same type of deck as yours.

3. Cards that can be sided against more than one type of deck are useful as your side deck can counter more with less cards.

Also a point worth mentioning is some decks can side deck things that other decks can’t and some decks can’t side what other decks can. For example zombies can’t possibly side royal oppression as they’d destroy there own strategy.

And for example gadgets can side deck cyber phoenix against other gadget decks. Obvious decks to side against are: DAD, burn, maco cosmos ,FTKs ,gadgets and more. Protector of the sanctuary, spell canceller, royal oppression, (if it doesn’t hurt your deck) prime material dragon, mobius, snipe hunter, shadow imprisoning mirror, (if it again doesn’t hurt your deck) kinetic solider, and pulling the rug are all great cards to side deck. There are many more cards which are great to side too.

To Tech:
Teching is when you main deck cards to counter certain decks. Most of the time they’re useful in lots of situation or in lots of match ups. Here are some great tech cards: kykoo the ghost destroyer can remove what you want and you can control what you remove so don’t remove things you don’t need to in DAD match ups. Also he can stop the effects of strike ninja, promethius, bazoos, d.d crows and with some protection from attacks dark armed dragon itself.

Another great card is the transmigration prophecy. It will get rid of things you don’t want in your opponent’s grave but send them back to the deck rather than remove them stopping those returns and dimension fusions. Like D.D crow it can also negate the effects of cards targeting a card in the graveyard like monster reborn. It can also return card’s in your grave back to your deck things like grave keeper spy apprentice, hydrogedons, gadgets or any other card you can search from your deck with an effect. It’s a great card.

Book of moon can stop dark armed dragon from using its effect and you can then destroy it. Its 1000 def only! It can stop shadow priestess of ohm from using her effect as well as D.D survivor and great shogun sheen as well as many more monsters .Right now I’d advise it over enemy controller!

Lastly seeing as people who are scared of DAD are even maining wabokus as crazy as that sounds I’d prefer scape goat. Sure if your opponent plays return from the different dimension you’ll probably take one direct attack but scape goat can be used in more situations and can be abused with cyber valleys, enemy controllers and any thing else you imagination can come up with. That’s it for today!

I won’t unfortunately be able to type up another article till the 24th when I report back on nats. However next week I’ll try to edit all of my articles so far. Talking bout nationals it’s a perfect time to look over the articles. See you then!

Future Monday : Gear Town

Future Monday : By Ken Watkins

This weeks Card From The Future is Gear Town, and not a Rodney Copperbottem in sight!
(I know the city in Robots is called Robot town. When this card is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard, you can Special Summon 1 "Ancient Gear" monster from your hand, Deck or Graveyard.

My rating: 10-10 (For gear decks)

Yeah. Do I really need to point out why this card is good? Anything that lest you normal summon Ancient Gear Engineer, Beast and Gadjiltron Chimera is overpowered. Not to mention the fact the 3000atk Ancient gear monsters are now one tribute. The only thing that balances this card is the fact it is a field effect.

And don't think about blowing it up or using another field spell or Ancient Gear Gadjiltron Dragon will pop up and chew on your life points. This card is a common for god sake and the other Ancient gear card in the set is just as nasty.

Just prepare for this card (and the other one) by buying 3 of the structure decks, slot in 3 of this card and 1-3 of the other one and watch your opponent die.

Look for this in The Duelist Genesis (TDGS-JP057 - C)

Comment

Random Friday : Dark Magican Special

Random Friday

By Thomas Sheehan

Dark Magician Deck Special

Hope this is random enough but for some reason I think with a bit more thought this deck could actually work. And no I didnt put in CCV, as If anyone could actually get it lol, I decided for random friday why not have a stab at making spellcasters competive again..

Looking at the deck you see the usual negation like solemns and bribes,
but also protector of the sanctuary and kycoo, thats 10 cards out of 40, that can stop and slow down Dad decks and most of the rest of the big decks of the format..
The deck also includes a welath of destruction to aid in getting rid of unwanted nucenses..

Tribute Monsters [6]

[2] Van'dalgyon
* Due to all the Counter Traps
[3] Dark Magician
* Good with magical dimension, + with dark magic attack can Otk..
Very nice..
[1] Dark Magician of Chaos
Helps with magical explosion , and can bring back spells

Non-Tribute Monsters [13]

** Its here where this deck trys something differant, apprentice with anti-meta cards teched, you might say its mad running protector of the sanctuary in 2, but remember he shuts off your opponents draw cards like allure and destiny draw, and he has 1900 defence
[2] Protector of the Sanctuary
* To keep my opponent from drawing outside his draw phase
[2] Kycoo
* To help stop DAD from coming out
[2] Gravekeepers Spies
* Tribute fodder + good against gadget decks as it has 2000 defense
[3] Apprentice Magicain
* Good old apprentice magicain
[3] Old Vendictive Magician
* Marks favourite card .. lol.. provides destruction and can then be tributed for magical dimension
[1] Snipe hunter
* To help discard big monsters for reborn or prem if needed

Spells [13]

[3] Allure of Darkness
* Helps draw into the cards we need , while at the same time fueling Otk
madness
[2] Dark Magic Attack
* Destroys every card on your opponents side of the field, very nasty but
can be situational at times, can be discarded by snipe hunter or lightning if it becomes dead
[3] Magical Dimension
* Most broken spellcaster card ever made .. seroiusly flip old vendictive, destroy opponants monster, then magical dimesion to summon Dark magician and destroy something else
[1] Monster Reborn
* Bring back Dmoc or Dark magicain from the grave,, very handy for Otk purposes
[1] Premature Burial
* Same as above
[2] D.D.R
* Brings back cards you removed with allure , + loop with Dmoc
[1] Lightning vortex
* Helps get rid of annoying swarm monsters like hydro, zombies, gadgets etc..

Traps [8]

[3] Solemn Judgement
* Best card in this format by a mile in my opinion , stops DAD, Jinzo, etc
[3] Dark bribe
* Stops Dimension fusion almost a neccesety in 3 these days
[1] Mirror Force
[1] Torrential Tribute
* Helps Destoy opponents monsters

Hope You enjoyed that guys, and Ken I was going to include Peten but i couldnt fit him in , soz man..
Hope to see ye next week for another Random Friday

Comment
Skills and Techniqes Thursday

Top Decks Part 1 : Top decks of the new format

By Seamus Allen

Today we’ll examine the top decks of this format, find out there weaknesses in both play style and decks they have a bad match up to.

This format is all about speed. Dark armed dragon decks (DaD decks for short )Shadow priestess otk ,diamond dude turbo, magical explosion, Exodia now, and six samurai to name a few. Gadgets are also around the top. All beside six sam and gadgets those decks all use allure and destiny draw..

Notice something? Last format it was LADD monarchs mixed with destiny hero that was at the top this time its DAD mixed with destiny heroes. Basically DAD gets darks in the grave and either using DAD itself or strike ninjas etc. it removes monsters from the grave for cool effects before using return from the different dimension or dimension fusion and winning.

They also use lots of graveyard abuse like dasher and disk commander. Due to 3 allure , 3 destiny draw and mostly 3 cyber valley they have all the speed they need to draw the cards they want. These decks often win in 3 or 4 turns some times 2.

What can stop them? Macro cosmos might jump into your head but that only makes it worse when your opponent plays return or escape from the different dimension. However it’s a possibility. Protector/oppression gadgets can also stand to DAD. A play style of beating DAD is said to be to just push, push , push with big monsters and win quickly. This because you don’t want to face DaD or game winning returns and dimension fusions or even a card crush virus. But what are the chances of these cards being drawn? Quite high thanks to the allures and D draws.

Now lets take a look at diamond dude turbo, exodia now, shadow priestess OTK and magical explosion. Each use huge amounts of draw power more so than DAD. Hand destruction, dark world dealings, trade in and even upstart goblin in exodia now and shadow priestess otk.

Diamond dude turbo uses lots of spells and very few monsters however lots of its spells search out monsters like reinforcements of the army (shortened to ROTA) monster gate, reasoning etc.

Magical explosion also runs those spells and six sam uses reasoning as well. Magical explosion works similar to diamond dude turbo but is even faster. Its based on getting out one of its 3 copies of magical explosion a trap which does 300 damage for each spell in your grave. They get lots of spells in to the grave and then use magical explosion to win. Some times they can even win before the opponent gets a single turn(highly fluky but does happen). However it fairly occasionly gets realy band hands.

For magical explosion macro cosmos can stop it or protector of the sanctuary and banisher in gadgets Spell canceller would work with a slight bit of protection . With magical explosion it is fairly obvious that push and aggressive play is what you need.

Exodia now is similar. It is based around drawing out exodia as soon as possible. It is completely based around drawing. Again protector of the sanctuary can shut this deck down, almost completely this time (its fairly hard to imagine an exodia piece attacking a protector)although a stratos could destroy if protector was in attack position. Morphing jar and card destruction can also shut the deck down completely .Spell canceller with a slight bit of protection shuts it down too. Again against this deck its push ,push aggressively That seems to be the answer to all these fast OTK decks doesn’t it?

Shadow priestess is another very ,very fast deck possibly slightly faster than magical explosion. Its main win condition and the one it gets its name from is having shadow priestess of ohm and dark magician of chaos(shortened to dmoc) on your field with dimension fusion and the continues spell card spell economics in your hand. Activate spell economics then tribute dmoc for shadow priestesses effect to do 800 damage to your opponent.

Because of dmocs effect he is now removed. You can then play dimension fusion and thanks to spell economics you don’t have to pay 2000 LP to activate it. You then return Dmoc who returns dimension fusion thanks to his effect. You can then tribute dmoc for shadowpreistess to do 800 use dimension fusion return dmoc who return dimension fusion and then you can do another 800 and so on until you win. Macro cosmos or banisher of the radiance will stop this combo both of witch are in macro decks and gadgets run banisher. Royal oppression can stop the combo as can solem judgement 2 more cards commonly used in gadgets and dark bribe can also stop it.

However the deck can win without that exact combo and like all the speedy draw decks protector of the sanctuary can stop it winning too fast. Spell canceller is again a good side deck choice. And once again the play style to use is aggressive pushing.
Now on to six sam. It’s a swarm deck that is really fast. Lightening vortex and royal oppression are cards that will be handy for a six sam match up.

Now on to gadgets. Slowest of all decks. That doesn’t mean there bad. A decks speed doesn’t mean how good it is. Gadgets can slow down other decks and are highly stable. They can break down other decks that are less stable and are very steady. The best and only card to use is some thing most duellists side deck – pulling the rug. There is another card coming out in the next booster light of destruction that will be great against gadgets. I’ll go in to light of destruction some other week.

The play style that hurts gadgets the most is having a swarm of monsters on your field. The deck uses cards like shrink and dimensional prison to protect its weak monsters and if you get enough monsters out you can over whelm your opponent. However most gadget decks max on vortex so you’ll want some protection from it. Also swarm decks can be stopped by gadgets that main royal oppression meaning you take ages to build up a swarm. However gadget decks are very different from other gadget decks and there are a couple of types of gadget decks and many don’t max on vortex or use royal oppression.

Another weakness to gadgets is defensive monsters with high defence or things like marshmallon. However most gadget decks now main 3 drillroid to deal with that problem.

That’s it for now. Next week I’ll take a look deeper in to tech and side deck choices against these decks. I listed ideas briefly here but next week I’ll go in to more detail. See you then!

Comment

No Tournament : Sunday 27th April

Important Information !!!!

There is NO CORK TOURNEY Sunday 27th of April , because a business has booked out all the rooms in the vic for a hotel convention..

Hope to see ye on the 4th of May

Future Monday : Montage Dragon

By Ken Watkins

We need a Montage! Lets get to the card.

For those that do not understand Japanese (like myself) here is the translation.

Name:
Montage Dragon

Type:
Dragon/Effect

Effect:
This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except by sending 3 Monster Cards from your hand to the Graveyard. The original ATK of this card is equal to the total Levels of the Monster Cards sent to the Graveyard this way x 300.

My rating: 7-10

Montage Dragon is a good balanced card. You give up 4 cards to summon it (something most players will look down on) to get a beat stick with an original atk equal to the stars of the monsters you tossed for it. For example if you toss DMoK, Thunder Dragon x2 would mean a 5400 ATK monster. Note he can't be revived from the Removed From Play or the Graveyard.

But what type of deck could use him? Montage decks is a good idea.
Backup Soldier, Summoner's Art, Thunder Dragon and a few monsters like Sangan can be good for the deck. But the main deck that can use it would be the Dark PJ deck. The Dark PJ deck has a huge draw engine and has more then enough fuel for this card and enough ways to revive the monsters that are tossed too.

This card is also useful to side deck in monarch deck for when your opponent uses Mask of Restrict and those monarchs are siting in you hand. Or in one turn kill decks (like Dark PJ's).

With the Draw engine as it is this card is useful but it will lose out loads of the Draw cards get limited or baned. Which in my opinion is a good thing.

Comment

April 20th: Report.

Top 4

1st PJ Tierney..
2nd Ken Watkins ( Yay for Ken )
3rd Seamus Allen
4th Thomas Sheehan

Pros
* I got me 3 grandmasters
* Ken got to the final :D :D :D
* Got a second Soul Taker

Cons
* PJ got Alexs CCV :( :( :(
* Still no DAD , Im going to go cry for a little bit :( :( :(

Videos : Final
Complete with Mr Kens Magical Commentary ::.. Take a look at part one to quickly refresh your memory or if you haven’t seen it yet do so now preferably in the forum at the article section as it is edited.

So basically reads are a way of figuring out your opponents cards that you don’t know using the cards you do they have or had in the case of destroying there cards. Last time we had figured out we were against a macro cosmos deck and were trying to figure out there set spell or trap.

We knew it wasn’t dimensional prison, macro cosmos, trap dust shoot and we also knew they didn’t have a dimensional fissure in there hand as these cards would have been activated already. What about mirror force? Shouldn’t they have activated it if it was mirror force when we
attacked with our monster?

Perhaps not. Expert players always try to use cards like mirror force, heavy storm and lightening vortex to destroy 2 or more cards for the one card they lose. Most of you probably know about advantage: Its basically how many cards you have in your hand and field and generally the more advantage you have the more commanding of a position you are in. Moves will almost always result in a change of advantage.

Advantage is measured relative to the amount of cards your opponent loses for the amount of cards you lose to do per a certain move. Say you use smashing ground to destroy your opponent’s monster. You lose a card but so does your opponent which balances out. But say you use lightening vortex to destroy one monster on your opponent’s field. For vortex you have to discard to activate it so you lose 2 cards vortex its self and the card you discard where’s your opponent only loses one card to your 2 resulting in a minus 1 advantage for you as you lost one extra card.

WARNING: using vortex on one monster is not to be tried at home unless in the gravest emergency… Where’s if you use vortex to destroy 5 monsters you lose 2 cards where’s your opponent losses 5. That’s a minus 3 advantage off your opponent. That definitely puts you in the lead. So it could be a mirror force. We will now abandon our imaginary duel to start going into other techniques.

WARNING: This article is only for cork players. After all this is the Cork site. Any other county players stop reading this stop now. Especially if your from Dublin because of the Ireland-Dublin tournement. Now back to subject: Say in a duel you were about to either swarm the field or set lots of spells and traps(it doesn’t matter which) so basically your doing a risky move if your opponent plays lightening vortex or heavy storm your in trouble.

If there’s a certain card in your opponents deck you really don’t want them to draw there’s a certain way of checking the amount of chance of them drawing it. First check their graveyard to make sure they haven’t used it yet, or in the case of there being 2 or more of those cards usable in a deck check how many copies they haven’t used. Then count the cards in there graveyard, field, Removed zone and hand and then subtract from 40(most decks used by good player have close to 40 cards if not 40 and those who don’t normally never draw good cards).

Say the total count of cards in field, hand, grave and removed zone (I will call this the u count) is 17 cards you subtract from 40 to get 23 the number of cards in your opponents deck. Now in the case of heavy storm which you can only use one per deck that is a 1 in 23 chance of your opponent drawing it assuming its not already in there hand. If you want to check the chance of heavy storm being in there hand add the number of cards in there hand with the number of cards remaining in there deck and then divide that number by the amount of cards in there hand.

You can round the number if you need too. What about cards like lightening vortex which are unlimited? Some people although there are very few don’t use vortex at all! Mostly though people play one or two vortexes. In the last article I said to always stock pile info on your opponent from earlier duels in the match. If this is game 3 and you know your opponent plays 2 copies of vortex you do the same as above and if you were in the exact same situation that’s a 2 in 23 chance of drawing the lightening vortex.

AGGRO BLUFFING
In yugioh bluffing is done all the time. My special form of bluffing which I call agro bluffing is when you need to bluff and your opponent has lots monsters if you have a monster in your hand that can destroy some of the weaker monsters on your opponents field, summon it and attack one of the weaker monsters saying” well I might as well get some damage in while I’m at it” and then set a card to your spell and trap card zone. Try to emphasise the fact that you are setting a card to your back row. I’ve done this a couple of times before and its worked every time

OVER EXTENDING
Don’t over extend For example don’t play too many monsters in the one turn. A torrential or vortex could lose you the game. What I really should be saying is don’t over extend too quickly . If you play a monster every turn your fine as you always draw to replace the card you got rid of from your hand.

If any thing happens to your field as long as you have a big hand you can repair. Of course if you have a huge hand over extending isn’t too bad as long as your hand can repair the damage if something goes wrong. The same applies to spell and traps. You don’t want your opponent to heavy storm the field.

RESPONDING TO READS
If you control a large swarm and your afraid of attacking into mirror force tap one or 2 of the monsters with higher DEF to defence position. If your afraid of torrential and you control a large swarm why don’t you just set a monster if you realy need to as it could be destroyed too and attack? Especially if your opponent doesn’t have much cards and your in a winning position. What about morphing jar? Well if your opponent is out of most of there cards where’s you’ve lots you obviously don’t want to attack it if theres a chance of you drawing something to destroy it. If you need to attack it set all your spells and traps but don’t set 5 so you can activate spells next turn. But how do you read a morphing jar or torrential tribute?

Well for morphing jar if your opponent draws and sets loads of spells and traps you can guess it’s a morphing jar. With torrential if you recently attacked a sangan or they used reinforcements of the army or any thing else that searches a monster(always remember the cards you know your opponent has in there hand)and you know they have a monster in there hand or even suspect it and yet they set a spell or trap and end with out playing a monster that could be a torrential tribute.

I’m doing these articles just before the nats a great time to become better. That’s it for this week next week we will be looking at deck building and the top decks of the format. Thanks for reading and if you have any comments, questions, disagreements or agreements feel free to share them and I hope you all learned something.. Negate the attack of the opponent's monster. After activation, this card is not sent to the Graveyard, but is Set on the field instead.

My rating: 10-10

This card is very powerful. Some might say it is not that good because it doesn't destroy the monster but if it had the effect of destroying the monster that attacked then it would need a cost. As it stands this card stops one attack per turn and doesn't cost at all.

Because of it effect it is never sent to the grave after it uses it effect it just gets set for a turn and is usable again and again until your opponent destroys it him/herself. There is two cards that work well with this one.

"The Dark Door" limits your opponent to one attack per turn and is really funny to watch your opponent go Mad because of the limitations you place on him.

And the Temple of the Kings (Not released)(also known as Cathedral of Nobles) removes the "has to be set until the end of the turn" rule so you use it as much as you like per turn.

This card came out in Japan in the Starter Deck 2008 (Yusei Fudo deck) and will probably come out in the same way here.

SJC Minneapolis Zombies Top 8

Minneapolis Shonen Jump

Something that caught my eye.. a zombie deck top 8 a SJC against all the dark return,
It must be good right.
Check out the build below

Nathan Kral

Monsters
1 Il Blud
2 Ryu Kokki
1 Card Trooper
3 D.D. And if you haven't, you will soon enough.

Instant Fusion is one of the most amazing cards in the game. When I first saw it, I was like "eew, whats so good about this." But then I sat down and pondered how this works, and I found it to be very versatile, like enemy controller. So, without further adieu, lets get on to the actual card itself.

Stats: Spell Card
Card : CDIP-EN040
Translation: Pay 1000 Life Points. Special Summon 1 Level 5 or lower Fusion Monster from your Fusion Deck. (This Special summon is treated as a Fusion Summon). The Fusion Monster Special Summoned by this effect cannot attack, and is destroyed during the End Phase. Only 1 ''Instant Fusion'' can be activated per turn.

Let's analyze the card itself. Basically, its like magical scientist, but with many drawbacks; and some advantages too. Lets look at them.

Drawbacks:
~ Level 5 or lower, not Level 6 or lower. The only decent one is Reaper of the Nightmare, and Thousand Eyes Restrict, which is banned.

~ The monster summoned can't attack your opponents life points.

~ The monster is destroyed during the end phase, like scientist, but this card has another drawback.

~ Only 1 instant fusion can be used per turn. This means that you can't play more than 1 in a turn. This was added so basically it won't be like a mini scientist.

Advantages:

Monarch Abuse : Yup Tribute the summoned monster fora monarch, what do ya think the card was made for lol

Yup Guys hope to see this being teched in some Cork decks soon lol..

Skills and Techniqes Thursday

By : Seamus Allen

This article is about players skills and tactics they know not just me.

A lot of you may know some of these but hopefully you wont know some as I made some myself. Do not share these with any one apart from other cork players (after all this is a cork site) or Tom will throw you off the site!

!!!!Cork Revolution!!!!

First lets talk about Reads.A Read is a method used by skilled players to make good assumption about your opponents hand and set cards. For example say your opponent sets a monster and a spell or trap. In your turn you summon a monster attack your opponents monster which happens to be a D.D scout plane and is destroyed. You now end your turn. Your opponent draws and sets the monster they just drew.In your turn you draw and see that you can do major swarm this turn.

You have drawn muarading captain. Should you risk swarming? What are the risks? Well for one your opponent could activate mirror force or torrential tribute to destroy all your monsters. Or you could attack into marshmallon are spirit reaper and then next turn your opponent could play vortex. Losing 3 monsters on your second turn could be enough to lose the game.

What information do you have on your opponent and his or her cards? Almost none you might awnser but we actualy know a lot about your opponent. Firstly they are using some remove from play deck probobly macro cosmos. How do we know this? Well from the D.D scout plane of course. Always stock pile as much information about your opponent as you can during the first and some times second duel. It will help with reads and also with side decking.

For instance you might be playing a player who happens to have lots of dark monsters. He migh have no allure of darkness or mystic tomatoes or dark themed cards just a lot of ordrinary dark monsters. You might not even notice yourself. but a good way of getting information about your opponent is looking through their graveyard (or remove from play zone)every so often to see what kinds of cards they use and study there personal or unusal choices. Now so you know your opponent plays lots of darks now what????

You can side shadow imprisoning mirror in for the next game! This example can also work with royal decree against a trap heavy deck. Now back to the duel. what could there face down spell or trap be?

Now heres how to do a read: Seeing as your against a macro cosmos deck could it be macro cosmos face down? no because other wise they would have activated it when you attacked.Using that logic it also means they dont have a dimensional fissure in the hand. Could it be a sak or dimensional prison? well put yourself into that persons shoes. They would have used either of the above traps to protect scout plane and hope to draw macro or D fissure next turn.

Could it be a mirror force or torrential? Unfortunetly you will have to come back next thursday for my next article. The Fusion Material Monsters for this card are any 6 "Neos", "Neo-Spacian", "Elemental Hero", "Destiny Hero" or "Evil Hero" monsters, with a minimum of 1 "Neos", 1 "Neo-Spacian" and 1 "Elemental Hero", "Destiny Hero" or "Evil Hero" required. Once per turn, by removing from play 1 "Neos", "Neo-Spacian", "Elemental Hero", "Destiny Hero" or "Evil Hero" monster in your Graveyard, this card gains 500 ATK, and gains the removed card's effect until the end of the turn.

I am not bothering with the lvl, Attribute or the atk and def, you don't need that translated.

My rating: 2/10

Why do U.D.E and Konami keep making monsters like this? His has a useful effect but a terrible cost to summon?

This god is not very godly. His Summoning condition is insane. He is not a contact fusion and needs 6 monsters to be fused. That is 7 cards for one monster that has a effect equal to a lesser version of Phantom of Chaos? Use your Overload fusion or Future Fusion to get him out.

If they make a card with this crappy summoning conditions why don't they make sure he stays for a while? The anime version is just as bad. it has this effect.

""Elemental Hero Neos" + 6 different "Neo-Spacian" monsters
This card can only be Special Summoned from your Fusion Deck by returning the above mentioned cards you control or in your Graveyard to your Deck. (You do not use Polymerization). By selecting 1 "Elemental Hero" or "Neo-Spacian" monster in your Deck and removing it from play, this card gains the effect of the removed monster until the End Phase. This card gains 500 ATK for each card removed from play this way."

6 Different Neo-Spacians is bad but at least you don't need a polymerization and they can be in the graveyard to work.

All in all a Bad card. If you like his effect then get a Phantom of Chaos and leave this one to the Fan boys.
